A Jetwriter AI reply usually starts to appear within a few seconds. It takes longer with an Advanced model, with Balanced or Deep thinking, with a long email thread or conversation, and when Jetwriter searches the web or reads a file first. If no text appears at all, click the stop button, reload the page and send your request again.
A reply is stuck before any text appears
While Jetwriter works, its logo moves and the words next to it change every few seconds: "Thinking...", "Processing...", "Analyzing...", "Evaluating...". When it searches the web or reads a file, they say what it's doing instead, such as "Searching for" followed by what it searches, or "Reading file(s)...". If this goes on and no text comes:
- Click the stop button, where the send arrow was (point at it and it says Stop).
- Reload the page: press F5, or Cmd+R on a Mac. A tab that was open before Jetwriter updated can't reach the extension until you reload it, and its replies never start.
- Open Jetwriter again and send your request.
If it's still stuck, something on your network may block Jetwriter: see the network section of Jetwriter isn't working or shows an error.
Pick a faster model or thinking level
Advanced models and deeper thinking handle complex requests better, but they take longer. Jetwriter's own tip says: "Deeper thinking handles complex tasks better, but usually takes longer and uses your limits faster."
On Elite and Ultra, Jetwriter starts on Sonnet 5.5, an Advanced model, with Balanced thinking. On the Free plan, it uses Regular models, which always think Fast.
- In the Jetwriter window, click the model button under the text box. It shows the model and the thinking level, such as "Sonnet 5.5 · Balanced".
- In the Thinking row at the top of the list, click Fast. Or, for the quickest replies, choose a model under REGULAR AI: Gemini 3 Flash, GPT 6 Luna or Haiku 5.5.
- Send your request again.
Point at a model in the list to see its "Speed Rank" within its group: Gemini 3 Flash is the fastest Regular model, and GPT 6 Sol the fastest Advanced one. Jetwriter remembers your choice for the next replies. To compare the models, see Pick an AI model and thinking level.
Long threads and long conversations
Jetwriter reads the whole email thread or chat you're replying to, and everything earlier in the conversation in its window. A long thread, or a long back-and-forth with Jetwriter, takes longer to read.
To start fresh, click Start new chat, the pencil icon at the top of the Jetwriter window. It appears once a conversation has started. In the web app at jetwriter.ai/app, click New Chat in the sidebar.
Web searches, files and pictures
When a request needs it, Jetwriter searches the web or reads web pages, files or pictures before it writes. Its window says so: "Searching for" and what it searches, "Reading" and a site's address, "Reading file(s)..." or "Analyzing image(s)...". Each of these adds time to the reply.
Stop a reply that's taking too long
While Jetwriter writes, the send arrow turns into a stop button:
- Click it to stop the reply. The text written so far stays, and you can use it.
- If you've already typed a new request, the button says Stop and send when you point at it: clicking it stops the reply and sends your new request.
To try the same request again, point at the reply and click the Regenerate icon under it.
Still slow?
Email support@jetwriter.ai with:
- the model and thinking level shown on the model button;
- the site you were on, or the web app;
- about how long the reply took, and the date and time it happened;
- whether it's faster on another network, or with your VPN off.
