The Free plan includes 15 AI responses a month. Each reply, rewrite or chat answer Jetwriter writes for you counts as one. They come back on the same day each month as the day you signed up: if you signed up on the 5th, you get 15 new responses on the 5th of every month. When you run out, you can wait for that day, try Elite free for 7 days if Jetwriter offers it, use your own AI key, or upgrade.
What counts as one AI response
- Each answer Jetwriter writes counts as one: a reply in Gmail, WhatsApp Web or another site, a new email, a fix or rewrite of selected text, or an answer in the web app's chat.
- Asking for changes writes a new answer, so it counts as another response.
- An answer that fails with an error doesn't count.
- Replies written with your own API key don't count. See Use your own OpenAI, Gemini or Claude key on the Free plan.
- Replies that use your past Gmail emails count like any other reply. Connecting Gmail costs nothing extra.
The count belongs to your account, so the extension and the web app share the same 15. On a Team Free plan, each member has their own 15.
When your responses come back
Your 15 responses come back every month on the day of the month you created your Jetwriter account, at midnight UTC. Depending on where you live, that can be the evening before.
When a month is too short for your day, they come back on its last day. For example, if you signed up on the 31st, they come back on April 30 and on February 28 (29 in a leap year).
The message you see when you run out gives the exact date.
See how many responses you have left
- In the extension: after a reply, a counter such as 12/15 left shows next to the send button. It turns orange at 5 left and red at 2.
- In the web app at jetwriter.ai/app: after an answer, a line under the message box says, for example, "3 out of 15 free responses used."
The message when you run out
In the extension, the Jetwriter window shows this, with your own date:
You've used your free AI responses for this monthly cycle. Upgrade now to continue enjoying all AI features, or wait for the next cycle for a quota reset. Your quota will reset on December 5, 2026.
In the web app, the message says:
You've used up your free AI responses for this monthly cycle. Upgrade now to continue using all AI features, or wait for the next cycle for a quota reset. Your quota will reset on December 5, 2026.
Clicking Upgrade in the extension's message opens the plans. If you can start the Elite trial, a card titled "You've used your free responses for this month" shows instead of the message.
What you can do when you run out
- Wait for your reset date. Your 15 responses come back on the date in the message, with nothing to do.
- Try Elite free for 7 days. If you've never paid for Jetwriter, Jetwriter may offer you the Elite plan free for 7 days, 24 hours after you reach the limit. No card needed. See Try Elite free for 7 days.
- Use your own API key. Add an OpenAI, Gemini or Claude key in the extension's settings, and replies are billed by that company instead of counting toward your 15. See Use your own OpenAI, Gemini or Claude key on the Free plan.
- Upgrade. Elite and Ultra have no monthly limit on the fast models, under fair use, plus a monthly allowance of advanced AI responses. Compare them in Free, Elite and Ultra: what each plan includes, or go to jetwriter.ai/pricing.
Voice input has its own limit
On the Free plan, voice input has a separate monthly allowance. When it's used up, you see "You've used up your free voice input quota for this monthly cycle. Upgrade now to continue using voice input, or wait for the next cycle for a quota reset." You can still type your requests until it comes back on your reset date.
