Back in December 2022, ChatGPT Writer started as a simple yet powerful idea: a Chrome extension that integrates ChatGPT with Gmail to help people draft email replies. We were incredibly proud to be the first-ever extension to bring ChatGPT’s power directly into the Gmail experience.

• We’re More Than Just ChatGPT: This is the biggest reason of all. We realized that there is no single "perfect" AI model for every task. To give you the best possible results, we integrated other state-of-the-art AI models from industry leaders, including Google's Gemini and Anthropic's Claude. We’ve grown beyond a single model, and it was time for our brand to reflect that.
