How it started
Jetwriter started in December 2022 as ChatGPT Writer, a Chrome extension that wrote Gmail replies with ChatGPT. Since then it has learned to reply in WhatsApp Web, LinkedIn and other sites, to write in each person’s own style, and to draft Gmail replies as emails arrive. It also became a web app for any device, with Claude and Gemini next to GPT.
It was renamed Jetwriter AI in September 2025, a name that isn’t tied to one AI model. It’s the same extension, account and subscription: what the new name changed.
Not part of OpenAI
Jetwriter AI is independent. It isn’t part of OpenAI, Google or Anthropic: it writes with their AI models, GPT, Gemini and Claude. A Jetwriter plan isn’t a ChatGPT Plus subscription, and a ChatGPT subscription doesn’t include Jetwriter.
Your emails and messages
Jetwriter never sends anything: you review and send every reply. AI Reply reads the conversation you click it in, not the rest of your inbox. If you connect Gmail for Auto-Drafts or style learning, it also reads your sent and new emails. Your emails are never used to train AI, and you can disconnect anytime. Read the privacy policy.
