# Jetwriter AI was called ChatGPT Writer

> ChatGPT Writer was renamed Jetwriter AI in September 2025. It's the same extension, account and subscription, so there's nothing to do.

ChatGPT Writer is now called Jetwriter AI: it was renamed in September 2025. It's the same extension, the same account and the same subscription, so you don't need to reinstall it, sign up again or pay again. Jetwriter AI isn't part of ChatGPT or OpenAI.

## What stayed the same

-   **The extension.** If you had ChatGPT Writer installed, your browser updated it to Jetwriter AI on its own. It's the same extension in the Chrome Web Store and Edge Add-ons.
-   **Your account.** Sign in with the same email address, the same way as before: see [Sign in to the extension](https://jetwriter.ai/help/sign-in-to-the-extension).
-   **Your plan and subscription.** A paid plan carried on under the new name.

## What changed

-   **The name and the logo:** Jetwriter AI, in the extension, on the website and in emails.
-   **The website:** chatgptwriter.ai now takes you to [jetwriter.ai](https://jetwriter.ai/). Your account page is at [jetwriter.ai/dashboard](https://jetwriter.ai/dashboard).
-   **Your card statement:** new charges show **JETWRITER.AI**. Older ones may show **CHATGPT WRITER**. Both are your Jetwriter AI subscription. If you don't recognize a charge, see [A charge you don't recognize: JETWRITER.AI or CHATGPT WRITER](https://jetwriter.ai/help/unknown-charge).

## Jetwriter AI isn't part of OpenAI

Jetwriter AI is independent and not affiliated with OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT. Jetwriter writes with AI models from several companies, such as OpenAI's GPT, Anthropic's Claude and Google's Gemini. A Jetwriter AI plan isn't a ChatGPT Plus subscription, and a ChatGPT subscription doesn't include Jetwriter AI.

## If your extension still says ChatGPT Writer

A version from before the new name shows "ChatGPT Writer is now Jetwriter AI. Please Restart your browser to get the new version." Close every window of your browser and open it again: browsers update extensions on their own, and a restart installs the waiting update.

If it still says ChatGPT Writer after the restart, update it by hand:

1.  Type `chrome://extensions` in the address bar (`edge://extensions` in Edge, `brave://extensions` in Brave) and press Enter.
2.  Turn on **Developer mode** at the top right of the page, click **Update**, then turn **Developer mode** off again.
